Farnham Maltings – Farnham, Surrey – England’s First Craft Town

This Christmas, the craft sector has come together to launch a national campaign, designed to support makers across the UK and encourage shoppers to ‘buy less, buy better, buy handmade’.

In the maltings stores – find beautiful jewellery  from our range of beautiful objects, vintage finds and handmade pieces from our local makers. The store hours match our regular box office opening hours. 

Farnham Maltings,was saved for the town 50 years ago by a group of local residents; restored and adapted as a vibrant arts centre with a theatre, cinema, events and classes. I discovered the inspirational Maltings whilst studying for my degree in the town and have been exhibiting there for 20 plus years, over which time it has won Heritage Lottery Funding for the Glass Atrium, and more of the building has been opened up to the public. It has always had a fantastic atmosphere.

I have a good range of jewellery on permanent display in the first corridor cabinet and friendly staff are there to help you try on jewellery and choose exciting new pieces.  There is a lovely cafe, with additional seating by the babbling river Wey also open till 7pm.

Farnham Maltings contributed in no small way to Farnham becoming England’s first officially designated Craft Town in 2013,and its well worth a visit. I will also be happily exhibiting at Farnham Maulting’s Festival of Crafts in October. Hope to see you there.
